Help for Students

ABOUT THIS PAGE
Below are a variety of ways for my students to get help on their writing projects. Please make sure you view the handouts and screencasts before you come to office hours in case they answer your question for you.
OFFICE HOURS
Spring 2012: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00-6:00pm (and by appointment on other days — see below)

Students from both the campus and Continuing Ed sections of the any of the classes I teach are welcome to stop by during my office hours. While you don’t need an appointment, I recommend that you make one so that I can be prepared.

To sign up for an appointment during office hours or for another day/time that I’ve made available, see the Sign-Up Sheet in our class collection on Google Docs.

OFFICE LOCATION
ENVD 1B80 (in the basement of ENVD, inside the PWR complex)

  • Go through the main PWR door and then look for a short hallway to the left.
  • Go into the hallway and you’ll see my office on the right, across from an office with a confusingly unrelated room number.

The office is hard to find, so I suggest that you print out this MAP with directions.

BY EMAIL
Use this contact form to send me a message: Contact Amy

I will do my best to respond within 48 hours, but if you haven’t heard from me after 72 hours, please feel free to try contacting me again.

SCREENCAST TUTORIALS
Many of the handouts I’ve provided on FutureOfWriting.net have embedded screencasts. But if you’d like to browse through the screencasts available, follow the links on the Screencasts page.
HANDOUTS
Be sure to view my responses to the frequently asked questions on these pages: General FAQs, Campus-FAQs, and Conted-FAQs (all three of which are under the COURSE INFO tab).

For handouts that relate specifically to using the WRTG 3020 class blog, see the CLASS BLOG GUIDELINES section of the blog.

For more handouts on using the custom version of WordPress that powers the class blog as well as the Study Guide blogs, see my Using Custom WordPress handbook on FutureOfWriting.net

Also browse FutureOfWriting.net for handouts on a wide range of topics that relate to helping students (and faculty) adjust to the changing nature of literacy.

DRAFT DROPBOX
See the “read me” file in the Draft Dropbox in our class collection on Google Docs for info on how to use this method of getting feedback on your drafts.

If today's fifth graders are making video documentaries instead of writing research papers, what will count as "writing" by the time they arrive at college?
